Molly says “Heyyo” aka Hello

Molly has become quite the little monkey lately.  She loves to climb up in any chair and sit like a big girl.  She'll even kick you out of a chair so she can sit by herself!  She also started giving hugs and kisses recently which I love to receive so I ask her for them all the time. :)  She's still not into vegetables, so I bought Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious to try to sneak some in.  She's eaten the breads and brownies so far, so I'll keep trying new ways to get those veggies in her.  We've been spending some time at the pool this summer.  Molly's not big on standing & playing in the baby pool, but she loves when I hold her and we swim in the big pool.

Finally, an update

Molly is becoming quite the singer.  She loves to listen to me sing, then sing a few bars herself before clapping and cheering and repeating it all over again.  She's also learned several animal sounds; my personal favorites are the elephant and monkey.  She also now understands that when I tell her to go get Lambie and follow me, that that means it's nap/bed time and she'll cry and run over to Chad to avoid me.  The first time she did it, we thought she wanted Daddy, but we quickly realized that she was just avoiding me!  Another one of her new tricks is to show you her belly when you ask.  She'll even try when she has a onesie or a long dress on, but then it doesn't work so well!

The girl is on the move

I was at an indoor playground with Molly today and was asked how old she was. When I responded with "13 months old," the lady's response was "Wow, she's really on the move!" Yes, that's the story of Molly now. Since Spring has arrived, we spend many afternoons outside playground hopping. We were originally limited to hardtop playgrounds because Molly would not walk on the mulch, but we hit a milestone at the end of April and now she's decided that mulch is not that bad after all. Molly usually finds the swings immediately; she'd spend all day in one if I let her! We had a nice, but busy Mother's Day. The best part was that Molly took a 3 hour nap. She didn't know it, but that was the best present she could have given me. :) A few other milestones - Molly is currently getting 4 more teeth in; that will make 12 total. It's also pretty consistent that she'll wave and say "bye-bye" when someone's leaving. A few other words that she'll whisper to you are apple and ball. And she often points to a cow in her book, or hands me a toy cow and says "Moo." So we're on our way to having a few more real words.

Hair bows and burp cloths

I have been making hair bows and burp cloths for the past year, and am now selling them on my website,http://www.LittleOneOriginals.com/. My hairbows can be made for either the right or left side, and on a single prong clip or snap clip.  They are great for keeping the hair out of your little girl's eyes, or buy a matching set and clip them in front of her pigtails.  If you are the proud mom of little boys, buy them for your nieces and friends. My burp cloths are made on 6-ply cloth diapers, so they are great for keeping shoulders dry.  I have given these at several baby showers and they are always a hit. You can pay via credit card or PayPal, but for those of you in the Columbia, MD area who'd like to pay via cash or check that is also an option.  You can also opt for picking up your order rather than paying for shipping. Thanks for supporting me as I venture into the world of owning my own business.  Please pass this information along to your family and friends that might be interested.

Molly is One

We had a great time celebrating Molly's birthday last weekend.  She did very well at her party and she was running off of one 45 minute nap for the day!  She helped open a few presents, and did lots of dancing and clapping along the way.  It took her a bit to warm up to her smash cake, but once she did, she had fun making a mess! Since the weather has started warm up, I've tried to spend some time outside everyday with Molly.  Yesterday, we spent over half and hour just walking around the cul-de-sac.  She was having fun exploring, and she did a good job of getting her shoes dirty. :)  No more chewing on that pair!  Her socks were sweaty and Chad says she stunk when we came in!  She got a good little work out in - trying to work off some of that belly I'm sure. :)

Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!  Since Easter came so early this year, it was actually Molly's second one even before she was a year old. Molly is becoming a pro at walking.  She's going to wear a path in the carpet around the coffee table and up and down the hallway before too long. :)  We got her some shoes, but she's still getting used to them so isn't always keen on walking in them.  She has begun clapping and saying "yea", but she likes to have the attention so she won't clap with you, only after you finish clapping will she clap for you.  Some of her favorite toys are books and she loves to read them aloud.  She is better about sitting still to read before bed, but does still like to turn the pages before we're done with all the words on the page.  Her hair is long enough now that I've started putting it in pigtails.  It's very cute. :)

Can we call it walking?

The census is yes, we can officially say that Molly is walking!  She has taken, at most, 10 steps, but she will try to walk somewhere instead of crawling.  Most of the time that means a few steps before plopping down, but at least she tries!  As expected, there is video on the website.   In other news, as evidenced by several pictures and video, Molly has figured out how to get into more things around our house, which means more baby proofing.  Her latest trick is opening the kitchen cabinet doors.  She also decided on her own that when it comes to drinking, she is a big girl and bottles are out; only sippy-cups will do.

A lot has happened

A lot has happened, which you probably know if you've been checking the pictures and video. Christmas was a whirlwind with lots of activity. The winter's been a bit calmer, though Molly's still growing incredibly fast. She's starting to take her first steps and "talks" a lot (though a few sounds resembling words, including Da Da, are frequently used appropriately). Also, note that we've added an RSS feed to the Digital Scrapbook, so those of you more technically inclined can keep up with up more easily.

Smiles from Molly

It's crazy to think that Molly will be 10 months old on Wednesday!  She is starting to understand us a little, and will crawl over to you, or follow you to her room or for a bath, if you ask her to;  though sometimes she "walks" to her room (with help, of course).  Often, she does not like to put her toys down, so she'll crawl around the room and pull up with them in her hands.  Because she plays with toys in each hand, she will pull away from the table and balance on her own.  She's probably up to 15 seconds of standing like a big girl. We got some video of it, so make sure to check it out.  We're slowly introducing more "adult" food to her.  She does well with green beans, crackers, chicken and peaches.  I've tried introducing a sippy cup and a straw to her, but as of now her only interest is chewing on them, not drinking, so that challenge continues.  We had a few warmer days earlier in the month, so Molly and I ventured to a playground with some friends.  She LOVED swinging!  The picture doesn't show it because it's really hard to swing a baby, and take a picture at the same time.  I even stopped by the playground a second time that week just so we could swing again.  :)
