What’s in a name?

Posted in News, Pregnancy on March 12th, 2009 by jen – 4 Comments

One frequent question I received after announcing our pregnancy was, "Are you going to keep the name quiet again?" Well, of course!! But, there are a few things that Chad and I have discussed that may aid you in your guesses.

1. No nickname.
2. Not in the top 25 most popular names provided by Social Security Administration.
3. Will not start with an "M"
4. Will not end in "ie" or "y"

We are no where near settling on a name, but thought you might like to know our name selection criteria.

We’re growing

Yes, our family is growing, and consequently so am I! We're pregnant and due September 6th with another baby girl. We're thrilled for Molly to take on the new roll of being a big sister and to finally be able to share this exciting news!

More visiting

On Saturday, Jeremy made us all a fabulous breakfast, including beignets, sausage and eggs. The baby girls' Great Grandma Dot also came over to visit for the morning. I think Emmie enjoyed being with her, what do you think?

Molly had fun peeking around Mommy at Uncle J at the table.

Sunday brought the biggest snow fall to Birmingham that had seen in years (a mere 2 inches, ha!), but that didn't stop us from making it to Emmie's baby dedication. Jeremy did a great job driving such precious cargo to the church. Here's Michelle and her sweet baby girl on her big day.

We tried our best to get a picture of the sisters and their daughters. It's getting more and more difficult to get Molly to sit still, so here's our best effort.

And one more fun picture to share...Chad caught Emmie mid-sneeze!

Meeting Emily Jane

Posted in Family visits, Molly, News, Trip on March 3rd, 2009 by jen – 1 Comment

Chad, Molly and I flew down to Birmingham this past Thursday to meet our new neice Emily. Molly did great on the flight, however she must have been so excited to meet her new cousin that she decided to skip her nap entirely, even staying awake on the car ride to Aunt 'Chelle's.

We decided to play a little Wii after dinner. Michelle decided to show off her incredible ability to multi-task.

G'mom and Grampa arrived on Friday afternoon and quickly learned that if you are eating a snack that means sharing with Molly! Molly has become quite the mooch if you are eating any kind of snack in front of her.

We tried to get Molly to give Emmie kisses multiple times over the weekend, but this is the best shot we could get. We realized that if anyone was holding Emmie, Molly didn't really want to come to you. Molly didn't act up, and she wasn't mean to Emmie, she just decided that a baby wasn't fun to play with so she tended to stay away.

New site

Posted in News on February 22nd, 2009 by c-had – Be the first to comment
In case you couldn't tell, we've completely redone the site. We've moved to a blog format that will hopefully make it easier to keep up to date (and prevent the months of inactivity that we were having before). Almost all of the old content has been imported into the new site, so you should still be able to find stuff here. Some details of the changes:

Blog

The front page is now a blog. Feel free to subscribe to the RSS feed and keep up with what's going on. You'll see posts from Jen, Molly, and me (though probably mostly from Jen) to keep you up to date on what's going on. You can also, of course, comment on our posts, so the new site is much more interactive.

Pictures

All of our pictures are now found on Flickr (see the link at the right). The old Digital Scrapbook here served us well for years, but it was definitely showing its age. The old RSS feed for the Digital Scrapbook will now go away, though you can subscribe to our photostream on Flickr. Flickr gives us many advantages, including:
  • storing full size images for anyone wanting to print copies
  • allowing comments so you can tell us how wonderful we look
  • even order prints to be shipped to you or picked up at Target

Videos

Our videos can still be found here. Each video is just a post to the blog, so they'll show up just like another blog post. If you want to see older videos, just click on the Video Category on the right.

We hope you enjoy the new site. Let us know what you think.

Happy 2009!

Hope you had a great holiday season and 2009 is going well so far. Molly had a great Christmas.  Her favorite new toys are her car, shopping cart, baby doll stroller, guitar, keyboard and tunnel.  Our house is much louder now, and there's a lot less room to walk around!   We're amazing my how many words Molly has, and she loves to sing Twinkle Twinkle, Ring-around-the-Rosie, and her ABCs.  We even captured some of that on video. Lately, she's been perfecting some of her dance moves too.

Lots of updates

We had fun visiting with my family in Memphis in August, and except Molly getting sick on the plane (all over Chad no-less!) and having a fever the first night, the trip was nice and relaxing.   And just as Molly was starting to get used to the pool, the summer ended and pool playdates are no more. :(  We tried an indoor pool, but the air temperature is very cold when you're not in the water.  Where's the indoor artificial sun?? Molly has sported many Auburn outfits during September.  It's very cute to see her in them!  She'll even shake the shakers and say "War Eagle" (or more like "Weegle") for you.  Chad made sure to get that on video. :)  She also now has an AU hat and will wear it only if someone else is wearing Daddy's AU hat.  Before now, hats would only last a few seconds on her head, but now she thinks it's fun!  We are still frequent visitors of the area playgrounds.  Her love of the swing has not diminished, but she has now become a pro at the slide.  We were at the tot-lot near our house last week and all of a sudden, I heard her stomping up the stairs, saw her little head pop up, and down the slide she went.  No help needed.  While visiting Clark's Farm last weekend, Molly thought sliding down all of the slides was much more fun than looking at the at the animals.
In non-Molly related news, Chad released his first software product, Pear Note, two weeks ago.   It is a program for taking notes on Mac computers. You can see more about it at his website: http://www.usefulfruit.com/ .   There has been a lot of interest and press about it, so it's been very exciting.

Busy few months

It's been a busy few months including lots of travel, visitors, and work. Jen has started her own business (Little One Originals) as has Chad (he's still working at Tresys as well). There's a lot going on, so be sure to stay tuned.
