Outdoor play

We headed to Molly’s school again this weekend to take advantage of the blacktop and playground. They started by riding their bikes on the nice, flat blacktop, but then switched to playing hopscotch.

Hopscotch

I told Leah to see how high she could jump in hopscotch.

Jump high

Molly soared on the hopscotch course as well.

Molly too

On to the playground, so Molly can flip things upside down.

Hanging around

The girls wanted to pose in the playground windows. And, yes, Leah was determined to keep her bike helmet on the entire time. I guess she wanted to be ready to hop back on her bike at a moment’s notice.

Leah’s waiting expectantly at the bottom of the slide.

It’s so great to be able to play outside like this again.

Lego Friends

The girls have gotten back into Lego Friends, and they used some Toys R Us gift cards to get some new ones. Here's Leah with her newly constructed rehearsal stage and jet ski.

Lego Friends

Molly still keeps her tongue out while working on detailed tasks. So, it was out pretty much the whole time she built this sports car.

Tongue = thinking

Molly like her new Legos. Ignore the wimpy thumbs up.

Swim lessons

Molly is back in lessons at the swim school, and this time she’s brought her sister along for the fun.

Swim lessons

The girls are doing fantastic, with new firsts every lesson. Molly swam the length of the pool for the first time here.

Swimming laps

Not long ago, she wouldn’t put her face in the water. Now Molly is swimming with her head down.

Head down

Leah got to wear flippers for the first time, which was loads of fun.

Flippers

Molly’s getting pretty good at making a splash when jumping in the pool.

Hopefully, this will make summer swimming season much more enjoyable for both of them.

Mother’s Day with Grams

We spent much of Mother’s Day with my mom (crazy, I know). These girls love their Grams.

Happy Mother's Day!

Leah loves Grams’s charm bracelets, and wants Grams to explain each charm every time we get together.

A day at the farm

Molly’s class took a field trip to Green Meadows Petting Farm. Non-chaperoning parents and siblings were invited to attend, so Leah and I drove out to meet Molly. The rubber duck races were a big hit with all the kids.

Field trip to the petting farm

Molly and Grace had a great day at the farm together, especially on the extremely bumpy hay ride.

Best Friends

Those are some funny looking animals!

Pretty pictures

Grace was the first of the group to step up and milk the cow.

Milking a cow

It took a bit of coaxing to get Molly to try milking the cow, but she finally was willing. Notice the stream of milk flowing in front of her.

Finally willing to try

The farm asked that only adults pick up the animals, but Grace was so excited to help hold a baby bunny.

Baby bunny

I think the bunny decided that Molly needed a few bunny kisses. Note that Leah does not appear in any of these pictures with animals. She was perfectly willing to enjoy them from a distance.

Mother’s Day at ECP

Leah invited me to a Mother’s Day tea at her preschool. We enjoyed a lovely snack of cheese and crackers, strawberries, and Hershey’s kisses while donning a fabulous crown. :)

I was also given a special pillowcase created from Leah’s artwork. It was a wonderful morning!

Ballet sisters

Molly and Leah have ballet class back-to-back on Saturday. Leah loves to watch Molly’s class. She sits in the doorway for most of the class, mesmerized by the older girls dancing.

Watching

Occasionally, Molly’s ballet class goes into a larger room to practice what it will be like on stage for their recital. Leah gets to sit up front to act as the audience for them, which she loves.

Preschool art show

Leah’s preschool had an art show for us to enjoy. They displayed several pieces of art from each of the students. Here’s Leah with the rocket she and I made on Father’s Day.

Preschool art show

Here’s a close-up of our rocket. Ignore the label that says it’s a building. I believe we started building a tower, but then Leah decided it was a rocket instead when we were part way through.

Our rocket

Leah’s teacher said she was the most meticulous of all the students when creating her self-portrait. Leah made sure she had all her teeth, eyeballs including the iris and the pupil, eyelashes, and ears.

Meticulous self-portrait

I like that her favorite color is “all of them”, rather than her usual answer of pink. And that she’s 4 turning 5 (her birthday's in 5 months). And that she wants to do really wide splits.

Easter fun

The girls were very excited to find their Easter baskets filled on Easter morning. Thankfully, I’d told them the night before that they had to wait patiently in their room until a reasonable hour before getting us up to head downstairs.

Easter morning

Molly seems to think her new bubble wand is Excalibur. The crazy glasses complete the look.

Crazy knight

Leah was quick to crack open this new pirate princess book.

A new book

After church, we gathered with family at Grams’s house. Molly decided to be the photographer for the day, and wandered the house taking pictures with my camera. She even got this mirror selfie to prove it.

A budding photographer

Leah loves it when Uncle Scott lifts her up. Note that this picture was also taken by Molly.

Please Touch

After a fun day in Philadelphia, we spent the night in a nearby hotel along with four other families. We headed out the next morning to check out the Please Touch Museum. Leah was happy to see some familiar duck-billed faces there.

Please Touch

Molly learned how a lock works.

Lock

You can’t miss a chance to play a Big piano with your feet.

Big piano

Molly’s cranking the lift to load bricks up to Leah.

Construction

They have a pretty large grocery store set up that the kids spent much of their time in. Keira spent much of her time playing the role of cashier.

Grocery cashier

Molly thought this baby (as well as all the others) needed an MRI in the hospital.

MRI

Eventually, Leah played the role of cashier while Keira was a customer.

Role reversal

In the space area, they had launch pads for launching foam rockets. Molly’s red rocket has just taken off, though she doesn’t know that since her eyes are shut.

Launch

Shooting rockets up toward the target rings is amazing.

Amazement

Combining a couple of backhoes and a ball pit made for lots of fun.

Construction

No surprise that Leah quickly dressed as a princess when entering the fairytale corner.

Fairytale princess

Molly’s creating a book in the craft room. Note that the further out you stick your tongue, the harder you concentrate.

Tongue required

Leah takes a brief break from drawing to contemplate her artwork.

Thinking

Keira’s excited to ride the museum’s carousel.

Carousel

The girls love the carousel. Jen - not so much. But she took her dramamine so she was able to ride it one time (I had to take her place for the second time around).

Carousel ride

It’s a very nice carousel.

Nice carousel

We had to tear them away from their book making to ride the carousel with everyone else. To do so, we promised them we’d come back afterward. So, we headed back to the craft room to continue book making until it was time to go.

Back to books

And thus our great Philadelphia adventure came to an end. We then hopped in the car and braved the traffic of I95 back to Maryland.
