Fifth Day of Christmas {crafts}

Posted in Sewing on December 29th, 2010 by jen – 1 Comment

Since making these bean bags for Craft Hope, I've intended to make some for our house. I finally made a rainbow of bean bags for Leah. Hopefully, the bright colors will inspire her to love learning numbers!

I made another coffee cozy for a friend. She was so excited to be "sipping in style!"

I'm always on the lookout for gifts for the "have everything" type. So, when I saw these reusable travel lids, I thought they'd be perfect for the great-grandparents. The lids can be used to cover salad bowls or 8x8 pans, perfect for that next pot-luck!

Twelve Days of Christmas {crafts}

Some of you may have noticed that I have not been posting many craft projects lately. Well, that's because I had to save the surprises for Christmas! So, now that the day has come, I offer you my "Twelve Days of Christmas {crafts}."

Last year I made my Mother-in-law a set of appliqued kitchen towels. She later hinted that it would be great to have a Christmas set. So at Thanksgiving this year, I gave these to her as an early Christmas present.

Princess party

Posted in Celebrations, Molly, Sewing on November 24th, 2010 by jen – 1 Comment

Molly and many of her school friends attended a Princess party and all came dressed for the occasion. Here's Molly at the top of the tower (which yes, is normally a climbing wall).

Princess party

They played lots of princess-themed games. Here the girls are sweeping like Cinderella in a relay race.

Princess games

They were read several princess stories throughout the party.

And finally, the girls went on a treasure hunt through tunnels and over balance beams...

which ended a top the castle with princess wands for all!

I made a chef's hat and apron for the birthday girl. Molly happily modeled it, then proceeded to indicate that she needs a hat to match her apron too!

Whoo whoo Boo’d you?

My MOMS Club decided to spread a little Halloween cheer and sneak in the shadows to surprise each other with goodies. I saw these owl towels a few months ago and decided that they would be the perfect gift for Boo'ing. So, surprise Courtney and Amanda, it was me!

Thanks a “latte”

October is Clergy & Staff Appreciation Month. I am a staff liaison at my church, so I was asked to honor a couple staff members with a special gift.

I made each of them a coffee cozy and included a gift card to Starbucks. I packaged them up and added a tag saying "Thanks a "latte" for your hard work!" (Idea found here.)

Fall fashion

I made Molly a new outfit for the Fall. A ruffled peasant top and coordinating easy-fit pants, perfect for wearing tomorrow for "green day" at school!

Fall styles

Molly wanted all red buttons, but Mommy won with a blue one in the middle!

School days dress

As previously mentioned, Molly started preschool last week. I made her this peasant-style dress and thought the "Hopscotch Girls" fabric would be perfect for her first day. Being three, she couldn't wait to actually wear it on her first day, so she and Daddy had a photo shoot in her new dress last month.

And why are Molly's hands up, you might ask.

Hands up

It's a fun game of stick throwing, where Molly has a great time throwing the stick in the air.

This game of throwing the stick in the air and while Chad took her picture went on for about 15 minutes.

And still loving it

I was pleasantly surprised to see my sweet Leah featured on Prudent Baby's project round-up for the button collar dress I made. Go check it out!
