Visiting from the South
Posted in Family visits, Leah, Molly on July 26th, 2010 by jen – 1 CommentGrampa, G'Mom, Aunt 'Chelle, Uncle J, Emmie, and Grammy all flew in for Leah's baptism. Molly and Leah were quick to get Grampa to read them a book.

Emmie tried to give Leah a kiss, but Leah wasn't a big fan of that idea.

Silly Emmie!

Leah had a nice conversation with Grammy.

And then had a lot to say about her conversation with Grammy.

Molly and G'Mom created a masterpiece.

And all the girls had storytime with Uncle J.

Cousins are the best!

Stay tuned for more of our weekend adventures!
Adventure on the High Seas
Posted in Molly, Sewing on July 25th, 2010 by jen – 2 CommentsMolly is finally old enough to participate in Vacation Bible School. This year the kids went on an adventure on the high seas. She was so excited every morning when I told her we were going to Bible school again. I taught Molly's preschool class and we both had a great week learning that God's word is true, comforting, surprising, life-changing and for everyone! She loved singing and dancing to all of the songs and listened to the CD so much that I went to bed and woke up singing them! We even had an evening of singing with Uncle J, who led these songs for the kids at his church.

Molly's shirt was way too big for her, so I made a few tweaks using this tutorial and now she can finally wear her Bible school shirt!

After Leah's baptism, Uncle J led an evening of singing Vacation Bible School songs which Molly really enjoyed. Here's a small taste of the fun.

Leah was baptized Sunday, and we captured it for all of you to share that couldn't join us (and thanks to all who did make it).
Portable fabric high chair
Posted in Sewing on July 12th, 2010 by jen – 2 CommentsI made this portable fabric high chair as a baby shower gift. Leah seems quite happy to model it for Mommy. Now I need to get to making one for her!

National Sugar Cookie Day
Posted in Molly, Playdates on July 9th, 2010 by jen – 1 CommentToday is National Sugar Cookie Day. In honor of it, we had some friends over to decorate, bake, and of course eat sugar cookies. First, the kids decorated cookies to be baked.

While those cookies were in the oven, they decorated previously baked cookies with edible markers, icing, and sprinkles.

The party was a great success. I think the kids would have eaten sugar cookies for lunch if they could have!

Little Dresses for Africa
Posted in Sewing on July 8th, 2010 by jen – 2 CommentsLast month, I came across this Do-It-For-Others Project. The goal is to make 200 pillowcases dresses to send to Little Dresses for Africa and aid in "changing lives one little dress at a time." So, my mom (and dad) and I did our part and made 5 dresses.
If you'd like to participate, leave a comment here and get to sewing! The dresses need to be received by the end of July.

America’s birthday party
Posted in Celebrations, Food, Leah, Molly, Sewing on July 7th, 2010 by jen – 1 CommentWhile trying to explain to Molly why we were having a party at Grams' house, she asked if it was a birthday party. I told her that it was America's birthday, and she then asked, "But who's America?"
Before heading over, we posed for a picture. Molly made sure that Leah was smiling.

Leah's doing a wonderful job modeling her new pillowcase dress. She's already learning to look just a little taller by standing on her tip-toes!

Some of Aunt Caroline's friends came to the party and played flashlight dance with Molly. Molly thought it was lots of fun, and didn't want to stop. This picture doesn't do it justice, though, so if you haven't already, make sure you check out the video.

I made red, white and blue chocolate dipped strawberries for the celebration. Molly liked them so much she even ate the stem! Guess we're doing a good job of convincing her that leafy vegetables are good.

Letter of the week – Z
Posted in Food, Kid crafts, Letter activities, Molly on July 6th, 2010 by jen – 2 CommentsWe made it to the end! Molly and I posed together with our last letter, Z for zebra.

Using a recipe for pinwheel cookies, we made zebra cookies.

With the help of the self-timer, I was able to capture our mommy-daughter game of Zingo. It's Bingo with a zing!

We ended the week making zucchini chocolate chip muffins. Molly liked tap-tapping the eggs.
