Potty Boot Camp

I've been prepping Molly for potty training for a few weeks, so this past weekend we had a Potty Boot Camp at our house. I read The Potty Boot Camp and decided to follow the recommendations for potty training your child in three days. Yes, THREE days! Chad was a bit skeptical, and I was hopeful that an intense potty training weekend would do the trick. So, I got my act together gathering potty rewards, crafts to keep Molly entertained in the kitchen, and items to entertain her while sitting on the potty. Wouldn't you want to stay in the bathroom with these fun things?

So, we started first thing Friday morning and went diaper free, except for naptime and bedtime. We sat Molly on the potty every 10 minutes for 5 minutes at a time, using an egg timer (affectionately named "Baby Egg" by Molly) to keep time for us. It was a hard first two days, but by Sunday she was starting to get it, so we increased her time off the potty. By Monday morning, she was self-initiating, and by Tuesday afternoon I was no longer using the timer. We didn't make it in three days, but I'm so proud of how well Molly has done. Now we just have to get out of the house!

Storyville

I took Molly to Storyville at the Rosedale Library in Baltimore. They have many different areas for kids to explore and play. We were there for 1.5 hours, and could have stayed another hour!

Molly had fun gardening and growing pumpkins. She must get her green thumb from her grandfathers!

She performed a puppet show with a goat and a pig and even gave out tickets to the show.

She had the most fun in the Storyville Store. I think if it had been her first area to visit, we never would have left! She wanted to put everything in her basket, which left the shelves pretty bare.

Molly wanted to buy so many things at the store, she ended up having to work a shift at the cash register to pay for everything.

The ABCs

Molly decided to sing the ABCs this morning. Of course, she sings them with her usual level of energy, making them very entertaining.

Play-Doh suncatchers

What do you do for fun on a wintry day? Make Play-Doh suncatchers to bring in a little sunshine, of course! So, today I hosted a playdate to do just that. All the kids enjoyed squishing small balls of Play-doh and creating a rainbow of colors on the Contact Paper.

When put together and hung up, it turned out really nice. Though, it didn't last in the window very long. Molly insisted on wearing it like a bracelet, and then it eventually wound up crumpled in a ball. But, she had fun playing with it all day!

Halloween festivities

Molly has had so much fun wearing her butterfly fairy costume. On Friday, I took the girls to Harmony Hall (an assisted living community) for a costume parade. She was in good company with Nemo, Elmo, The Cat in the Hat, and a Hershey Kiss.

She then donned the costume again when we went Trick-or-Treating on Halloween. Though before we even left the house we had a costume malfunction, which set us back 45 minutes! We finally got ourselves together and headed to Grams and Pop's house. Molly was happy to get some candy as well as a book.

We then headed to Molly's friend Simon's house to go trick or treating with our playgroup friends, each with a 2 year old and a less-than-one year old. We managed to get a picture of them all (and me). Left to right you've got Maya, Molly, Simon, Matilda, Leah, and Keira.

Of course, that shot was a miracle to get, as most of the time the picture looked more like this.

The rain held off (mostly) and the kids did great trick-or-treating. They hit a lot of houses, leading to acquiring a lot of candy for a 2 year old.

After everyone dug into their new-found loot, and Molly finished off 3 pieces of candy in less than 2 minutes, there was much fun and enjoyment while on the sugar high.

We all had a great time! You can see the rest of the pictures here.

Trunk-or-Treat

Our church had their annual Halloween party on Sunday. Molly has been so excited to dress up in her butterfly fairy costume. She asked me one night if she could have a magic wand to go with her costume because Dora on her toothbrush is dressed as a fairy and she has a wand. So, we made a trip to Target and found a butterfly wand. Leah was dressed as a sweet strawberry.

The party had a lot of things going on including Donut Swing, where you were supposed to catch a swinging donut with only your mouth. Here's what Molly immediately did...

Molly also tried to toss ping-pong balls into goldfish bowls, and decorated a bag, but the highlight was the Trunk-or-Treat. We kept asking Molly if she could say "Trick-or-Treat" and she'd enthusiastically say "Yes" but never say those three words!

Happy early Halloween from a butterfly fairy, a strawberry, and a scarecrow!

Tailgating

We had Chad's family over for some Auburn/LSU tailgating. Aunt EA tried to be a bad influence by giving Molly an LSU shaker.

Fortunately, Molly and Leah know who to cheer for!

Being a big sister

Molly is really getting the hang of being a big sister. She likes to bring Leah toys, cover her in a "blanket," read stories to her, rock her, and many other things that aren't in this video as well.

Ssshhh!

We had a great visit with Uncle J, Aunt 'Chelle, and Cousin Emmie. Molly had a lot of fun playing with Emmie, and of course had to tell Emmie what to do. Here Molly thinks Emmie is making too much noise at lunch, and makes sure she knows it.

Here's Molly's first time holding Leah. She did very well, and even asked to hold her again later.
