Happy Easter

Posted in Celebrations, Molly on April 14th, 2009 by jen – 3 Comments

We had a great Easter celebrating our risen Lord. Molly started out her morning with a visit from the Easter bunny.

Her eggs were filled with jelly beans, which she started out only licking until I showed her to chew them. After she had eaten quite a few, I started to put them away (Molly had previously dumped them all on the table). So, she decided she had to shove as many as she could in her mouth to prevent them from being taken away!

After church, we headed to Grams and Pop's house for lunch and relaxed with the family for the day.

2 year portraits

G'Mom and I took Molly to have her 2 year portraits done. It was a rough start, but we ended up with some adorable pictures of the birthday girl!

Happy Birthday Molly!

We've spent the past two days celebrating Molly's 2nd birthday! First we had a Blue's Clues party on Sunday. I decided to make her cake this year. It turned out cute, but I give credit to cake decorators - it's not as easy as I thought!

Along with themed snacks and "puppy ear" party hats, there was a Blue's playhouse,

presents,

cake and ice cream,

and lots of dancing!

Then today we celebrated just the three of us. We had pizza, cake, ice cream, and opened a few more gifts. Of course, Molly had to play with her newest toys before bed.

Mmm…peanut butter!

We ventured to the mall for some shopping yesterday morning, snagging lots of great deals, and then stopped for some lunch at Pot Belly's. We've had Pot Belly's yummy food before, but this time there was live music and they had coloring pages for the kids. What fast food place does that?! 5 stars for Pot Belly's!

But on to the real reason for the post...Molly got a PB&J sandwich. It was oozing with peanut butter and jelly and she decided that the best method of eating it was to put a glob of peanut butter and jelly on her finger, wipe it from her finger onto the fork, then eat it off of the fork. Not the most efficient method, but it was quite hilarious!

While in Birmingham visiting cousin Emmie for the first time, Molly decided to share her high chair with Curious George (thanks to G'Mom and Grampa for George). She also used Lambie as a nice placemat and some shapes for refreshing drinks.

Molly knows what to do when its dinner time. It's nice when your kids can do things for themselves.

What a ham!

This is always fun. I pulled out the camcorder, turned the screen around (so Molly can see herself in it), and just let her ham it up. The result has lots of fun faces and singing. It's a bit long, so be prepared (particularly if you're on a slow connection).

Rock star

Molly loves music, and she's really enjoyed her musical instrument toys. I think she may have an inner rock star. Perhaps we need to get her some speakers so she can kick them over while she smashes her guitar... Then she can pretend to be a real rock star.

Night-time reading

Molly's bed-time routine is pretty constant. I read her 2 books every night before bed. One of her favorites of late is Go, Dog, Go!, which she knows very well. You can see her finishing my sentences throughout this video of us reading the book. It's amazing to see how quickly she's learning as well. This video was shot a little over a month ago, and she knows much more of this book (and others) now.

Note that this video is quite large. If you're on a slower Internet connection, it might take a while to download it.

Delicious

As this video shows, Molly thinks water (and chicken) is delicious. Guess she's her mother's child (I'm not a fan of water if you were not aware).
