Vacation Bible School singing

The girls attended G-Force Vacation Bible School this week and had a blast learning how to put “God’s love in action!” Jen again taught Leah’s class, but this might be Jen’s last year teaching preschool as next year both girls will be with the elementary kids.

After a fun week, they joined some of their fellow attendees on Sunday to show the congregation a couple of their songs.

Molly’s first big church solo

Molly joined my worship band yesterday to sing her first solo in big church (as opposed to children's church). She did great! Jen said it was a good thing it wasn't any longer, as she would have started crying.

Here's the song in its entirety. Her solo starts at 3:45 in case you want to skip over me and the rest of the band.

Mother’s Day singing

On Mother’s Day, both of the girls’ choirs sang in church. Sadly, they did not sing at the same service. So, we got to go to two services.

First up was Molly’s choir. They sang a couple of songs and didn’t make it easy for me to get it on video, but I did my best. She looks so grown up with the music folder in her arms.

Leah’s choir sang at the next service. Their song really pulled at the heartstrings. I teared up a bit (and continued to do so every time I rewatched it to edit the video).

Great job girls. I know your mom (and dad) appreciated it.

Palm Sunday singing

Both of the girls’ choirs joined the adult choir to sing on Palm Sunday. Sadly, I only managed to get video of Leah as Molly was hidden from view. But I'm sure you can pick out her voice among all of them ;)

Easter Egg-stravaganza

Our church had an Easter Egg-stravaganza the week before Easter, including lots of fun. There were a couple of moon bounces, face painting, a lot of crafts, cookie decorating, and more.

Upon arrival, the girls went straight to the face painting. Leah opted to have an egg painted on her arm rather than her face.

And Molly chose to have a bunny painted on her cheek.

And here are the results (for a bit).

Then Molly decided she wanted her other cheek done as well, so she headed back for another round. This time - a butterfly.

Of course, there was an Easter Egg Hunt. Leah was in the preschool area, while Molly went to the second/third grade area.

Full baskets and bunny ear crafts on their heads serve as evidence of a fun afternoon.

Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord and Day By Day

Molly’s choir sang a couple of fun songs in church in March - Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord and Day By Day. Apologies for not having Molly in the frame very much - she managed to unintentionally hide behind the girl in front of her for much of the song.

Church at home

On Saturday night, we had a bit of snow and a lot of wind. Sunday morning, the snow was still on the street. While it wasn’t much, we’d had 3 vehicles lose control on the very steep hill we live on during the last snowfall, so we decided not to chance driving to church. Instead, we held church at home. I led some songs (both some "big church" songs and some children’s church songs).

Molly led the scripture reading.

Leah led the prayer. Apparently, she thought she needed to sound different when praying for the service instead of her usual prayers, so she threw in lots of amusing parts. These included praying “for all the people’s issues” which is a phrase I’ve never heard her say before.

This week, Leah’s choir sang in church. And not only did they sing, they also played choir chimes.

Molly’s special music

I’ve been leading music at Children’s Worship at our church. We do it once a month at 11:00. This month, Molly helped out by singing the special music.

Note that this was the same day that she sang with her choir at the 9:30 service, thus marking the first time she’s been involved in back-to-back services.

Molly’s choir sang in church last week at the 9:30 service.

Apologies for the video difficulties. I got a good seat up front to shoot it, but ended up right behind the director. I tried my best to duck around him.
