July 2005 - Anniversary trip to Ottawa, Canada

We went to Ottawa, Canada for our anniversary this year. Chad actually went up earlier for a conference, and Jen met him there on the last day. That night, we went to the Sound and Light show at the parliament building. For full effect, check out the video.

We went to the changing of the guard on Parliament Hill.

At this ceremony, the old guard hands over the key to the guard tower at Rideau Hall to the new guard. The new guard has many more people because some of the old guard are still standing guard until the new guard takes their places.

Here's the Parliament Centre Block in the daylight.

And here's the Parliament East Block.

We went on a tour of the Parliament Centre Block. Here's the Canadian House of Commons.

We went to the top of the Peace Tower in the Centre Block. We could see across the Ottawa River into Quebec.

We also got a bird's eye view of the West Block.

We stopped to get Beaver Tails in the Byward Market. These are thin fried dough with toppings such as cinnamon and sugar.

We also got some really good fruit at the Byward Market. Here's Jen eating some strawberries, blueberries, and tiny Ontario yellow plums.
