July 2005 - Anniversary trip to Ottawa, Canada Page 2

Our hotel was a couple of blocks from the Rideau Canal. This canal starts in Ottawa and stretches to Lake Ontario.

The canal connects to the river via a series of locks. We got to see several boats traverse the locks to get onto the canal.

Here we are behind Parliament Hill overlooking the Ottawa River.

We ate at many great restaurants, often in nice courtyards. Here we are sitting at the Parliament Pub across from Parliament Hill.

We happened to see Tom Green interviewing some people on Parliament Hill.

We went on a boat tour of the Ottawa River.

Here are the Rideau Falls. They were named by a french explorer who thought they looked like his silver curtains (rideau is the French word for curtains).

The white structure in this picture was supposed to be the world's largest digital clock. Unfortunately, they ran out of funding. So, they decided to call it a work of art.

Here's a view of the Rideau Canal locks from the Ottawa river.
