September 2006

Since we spent our anniversary in Louisiana on a mission trip and we usually get away for our anniversary, we decided to take a trip to Deep Creek Lake over Labor Day to make up for it. We stayed at the Savage River Inn, which was sadly largely underwhelming. I don't think we're really bed and breakfast kind of people. The weekend was a comedy of errors, from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto to a really bad movie (Crank) to a lack of things to do (too cold for the water, too warm for the ski slopes). It was at least somewhat relaxing, and you can't hate a weekend that Auburn beats a PAC-10 team.

One of the good notes of the weekend was a trip to Swallow Falls State Park.

While there, we got to see several crazy people who were apparently very determined to get in the water, despite the cold weather.

They were having their annual Apple Butter boil while we were there, though we didn't stick around to try it since it takes all day to cook.

Oh, and I almost forgot... We're pregnant!

Jen is pregnant, and due March 20 (which means she's just through the first trimester). And we did some early genetic testing, which means we know that... It's a girl!

Jen's parent's came in town for the weekend. We had a good time just hangning out together, but we did take a trip out to see the National Cathedral.

Here's the main sanctuary on the inside. They actually had a wedding while we were here. The best part was the giant organ. To get a taste of what it sounded like (though a computer can't do it justice), click here.

Jen's parents brought our baby girl her first Auburn gift, a very cute pair of socks.
