May 2004

We planned to take a trip to Hershey, PA, for Valentine's Day, but Chad was sick. So, we rescheduled our trip for May. Here's the view from Hershey Garden's overlooking Hershey Park.

Here's a fountain in Hershey Gardens that we thought was cool. The ball is not attached in any way, but managed to stay on top of the water stream.

There was a stream flowing through this part of the gardens.

And we did find time to relax and enjoy the flowers.

We also went to Hershey's Chocolate World to learn more about Hershey's chocolate, and get some sweet treats.

At Chocolate World, we ran into a few familiar characters.

We stayed at the lovely Hershey Lodge.

Chad was surprised by birthday cake the day before his birthday. Chad, Dawn, Dominic, Brian, and Nick seem to be enjoying it.

Jen, Brett, Seth, and Victoria seem to like the cake, too (though Seth seems to have some of it stuck in his teeth).

Jen gave Chad a smoker for his birthday. Now we just need a turkey (other than the one in the picture).

The 17 year cicadas are here. This is a few of them hanging out in our backyard. If you want to learn more about the cicadas, there is a good article at our local NBC affiliate's website. You can listen to what they sound like outside our house as well.

We visited Louisiana to see EA graduate from LSU.

She crossed the stage where George W. Bush had stood a short time ago when he delivered his commencement speech..

She graduated with not one but two degrees - one in Psychology and one in Spanish.

Here's the grad with her family.

There was a rainbow over Baton Rouge when she graduated.

We celebrated the event with an excellent meail at Sullivan's - the restaurant at which EA used to work.

Before heading back to Maryland, we had to get our hands dirty with shrimp and crawfish.
