November 2006

Friday night we went to a wedding shower for Jen's cousin Chuck... I mean Charles. We ate in the theater room, or at least that's what we called it, of a really nice giant house in Birmingham.

The house was on a mountain overlooking Birmingham. Here's the view from the patio during the shower.

We finally got to see Chuck/Charles and Jennifer (his fiancee) just before we left.

Saturday, we got up early and caught a ride with Jen's parents to Auburn for the Auburn-Georgia game. Here's Jen and I ready and excited to see a good game and old friends.

We didn't have tickets, so we planned to look for someone selling them. Unfortunately, we forgot to get enough cash before leaving Maryland. So, we tried this ATM machine, which decided to not give me any cash as well as to not give my card back. The bank said they were sending maintenance, but they were coming from Columbus, GA, and wouldn't be there for some time. So, we left contact info and canceled the card. Hopefully they'll send it back to us.

Eventually, we did get tickets for less than face value, though not until 20 minutes before kick off. There certainly are a lot of scalpers trying to make a profit reselling tickets these days (wanting $75 to $150 for $50 face value tickets). Unfortunately, the game was awful. We had 35 yards passing with 4 interceptions in the game. We lost 37-15, and were down 30-7 at the half. This picture is of our first touchdown. Oh, and it rained hard for a few minutes - just long enough to completely drench us.

The best part was heading to the 5th quarter at Wesley. We got to see lots of old friends. Here we are with Sarah Baxter, Brad Mooney, Aimee (Grantham) Baxter, little Grant Baxter, and David Goolsby.

And here's Joseph McBrayer and Ryan Jones with Chad. Ryan's actually moving up our way to D.C.
