While at the Birmingham Zoo, we happened upon this White-Handed Gibbon getting his daily swinging workout. While the zoo is usually fun, the animals are generally just laying around. It was great to find an animal really putting on a show.

Note that the HD version is also 60 frames per second, so the motion should be pretty smooth in it.

As soon as we met JJ, Molly wanted to hold him.

Beginning that aunt/nephew bonding…

Sunday morning, many family members were present for JJ’s service of Christian dedication.

We also took a trip to the Birmingham Zoo while we were in town. Here are G’Mom and Grampa with all 4 of their grandkids. And an elephant.

The zoo also had a little splash pad, so the girls donned swimwear and had some fun. As always, Molly didn’t want to get too wet. The jets didn’t stay on all the time, so Molly figured out she could fill her bucket by setting it down when the jets were off and waiting for them to come on and fill it. She seems pleased with her scheme.

I’m a big fan of pleats, so when I saw this pleated hostess apron tutorial, I knew it’d be perfect for this project.

I was able to finish up a two jon jons. One for a family friend who recently had his first little boy.

And another for our sweet little cousin (though a bit of a delayed congrats since he was born in November!).

I also made a pair of overalls for my nephew. I used the Whipstich Overmost pattern. I was finally able to give them to my sister this weekend (which is why this post is so delayed). I can’t wait to see him in them next summer!

Whew, that is a lot of little boys clothes, especially for the amount of pink in my house!

I then came home to a celebration with both my girls. Leah knew exactly what I wanted for Mother’s Day…a double boiler!

And the best part – big hugs for Mom.

Leah preferred the automated nature of the bubble gun. Look at that face! She’s gonna get you now!

The jon jon is again the Scientific Seamstress Reversible Romper pattern. (Can you tell I’m a big fan of that pattern?!) I scored the shirt at a local consignment store.

Molly wanted Daddy to take her picture as well, so she started acting silly to attract the camera. It worked.

Leah then began to act silly like Molly. Nice silly face, Leah.

After finishing her strawberry italian ice, Molly decided to share what was left of Leah’s. It looks like this shocked Leah.

Molly has loved wearing skirts lately, so I made her a new one. Here’s one sassy little girl in her sassy pleated skirt. (Note: I added 2 inches in length since the pattern was a bit short.)

Leah’s still improving in the potty training arena, so we have a prize box for when she successfully executes number 2. While playing outside, she had her first success in days and and got this fun tiger squeeze toy. It was perfect timing, as it was great for squirting water at the water table.

Molly’s on the run, moving fast. Leah is trying to keep up, but just can’t. So, she has to resort to yelling, “Sttoooooppppppppp!”
